Museums
are the best way to learn about history, arts and culture of any place in
the shortest time. Chiang Saen Museum, a charming branch of the National
Museum, is particularly known for housing the relics of Lanna kingdom and
artefacts, which testify to the presence of man in the region even before
thousands of years. The Museum
Chiang Saen branch of the National Museum knits together the parts of the historic past of Chiang Saen. The Museum houses several fine articles, which incorporate local arts and crafts. Lanna Buddha images, amulets, stucco work and northern Thai ceramics are housed in the museum, which is also known for displaying the artefacts recovered from various excavations, many of which date back to the earliest existence of man in the district.
A visit to the museum is very useful for the people, who are particularly interested in King Mengrai's Lanna kingdom. The museum is not large, but the diligence and dedication of the staff is praiseworthy.
