Dan Kwian or the land of ceramics is known for it's peculiar pottery, featuring rough texture and rust-like color. The ceramics is shaped not only in various everyday implements like bowls, dishes, tools and utensils, but also in items like jewelery, vases and figurines. Dan Kwian is famous at international level for ceramics and the pottery is exported to various countries. One can witness ceramics whereever one goes. Phimai Historical Park is the treasure trove of ancient Thai architecture, housing the largest number of Khmer era buildings. Numerous shrines, many of them more than thousand years old, are dotted in the area, testifying that Nakhon Ratchasima held an important place in Khmer era. The most famous structure of the Park is a white sandstone shrine (almost 30 meters tall), ringed by tiny pink-colored shrines.

Thao Suranari Commemoration
Celebrated from March 23 to April 2, this annual event is held to hail the victory of Thao Suranari, the legendary woman warrior who saved her birthplace Nakhon Ratchasima from the marauders during the reign of King Rama III. Cultural programmes are organised on the event and people light firecrackers.
