Ayutthaya Historical Park Thailand, a country of rich cultural heritage, has an array of monuments and archaeological sites to present. Many buildings of immense historical value have been converted to museums. So one can say that they have been reinvented. Here is a list of some important historical structures of Thailand.


Ayutthaya Historical Park
Ayutthaya remained the Thai capital for 417 years, before it was replaced by Bangkok. Today, it is known for it's legacy, magnificent ruins and artworks. Having served 33 kings of different dynasties, it got a gamut of architectural styles in return.

Ban Chiang
Listed in the UNESCO world heritage since 1992, Ban Chiang is famous for red painted pottery. Scientific excavations here unravelled several skeletons, buried with bronze gifts. The latest ones belong to the iron age, while the oldest graves date back to neolithic culture.

Ban Non Wat
This village in central island has been the source of deep interest for the archaeologists. Considered to be home of humans for approximately four thousand years consistently, the excavations here hark back to late neolithic and early bronze age.

Emerald Buddha Temple
Emerald Buddha Temple The holiest shrine in Thailand was built to house a Buddha image carved from a large piece of green jadite (jasper). Modelled on grand chapels from the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya eras, the temple is known for it's exquisite architecture and grace.

Grand Palace
Built by King Rama I, the palace served not only as his residence but also his office. The roof of the palace is completely Thai, while rest of the design is inspired by European architecture.

Nakhon Si Thammarat
The city, having it's roots deep in history, boasts marvelous heritage. The place holds plenty of majestic ruins and relics. And variety of influences have made these monuments even more interesting.

Phimai Historical Park
The largest complex of sandstone monuments is located in Nakhon Ratchasima province. The monuments belonging to ancient Khmer architecture have now been revitalised. The place is even compared with Angkor Wat.

Si Satchanalai Historical Park
Several elegant monuments sit in Si Satchanalai Historical Park, sprawling over 800 acres of land. The monuments whisper the tales of their times. World renowned Sukhothai Historical Park is at one hour drive.

Sukhothai Historical Park
Counted among world heritage destinations, Sukhothai Historical Park is an unforgettable experience for the lovers of history. The historic town is billed as the conglomeration of majestic ruins. It is the place where the biggest restoration work in the country's history was carried out.
